We slept well and had blackout curtains that helped. We had two beds and a spacious room, though the bath was a bit outdated but it had great water pressure, a roomy shower and a clothesline. We had a room in the older section of the hotel, which isn't something that is spelled out when booking rooms. Our room was at the end of a long corridor near the steps, and though it didn't have a view, we appreciated the quiet of the room. We arrived early and were able to check into our room, which was a relief and a warm welcome! It was a nice walk in a good neighborhood. We took the BART from the airport to Powell Street station, and the Handlery was conveniently a few blocks from the station. “A pleasant hotel in a fantastic location” We would happily recommend The Handlery to friends and family. Our request for a late check-out was granted, so that we could sightsee in the morning then freshen up prior to our late afternoon flight back to the UK. The staff were polite and helpful - from front desk to the housekeeping staff. We heard very little noise from the street or the adjacent rooms / hallway and used the garage entrance on Geary St to come and go, so avoided the walk back through to the main reception building on O'Farrell. The shower was quite powerful and efficient for an old building. It was large, very clean and airy and had little touches such as a 'dressing' area (no scrapping over the bathroom mirror!) and a retractable clothes line over the bath. We booked a 2 dbles room in the Premier building (newer part), The room overlooked Geary St and was on the 7th floor. Our first time at the Handlery (8 nights) and we were very pleased with our choice. It was large, very clean and airy and had little touches such as a 'dressing' area (no scrappin.
